So
remember the finding Nemo family, Claire, Marlin and their son. We
finally got to meet with them again. Last week fell through because
Claire wasn't at home. Saturday we went to meet with them and once
again Claire was missing, but we were still able to teach Marlin and
Nemo. We had to bring chairs out and teach in the driveway (no woman in
the house) but it was 8 and night and an amazing lesson. They have so
many questions, about everything. Sometime it is hard because we want
to answer them all but we can't, not in one sitting and not without
giving them a lot of background knowledge. They are really trying to
understand what we are teaching. Questions ranged from, "Do animals go
to heaven." to questions about reincarnation and the Amish. But my
favorite part of the night came after my companion shared the first
vision. When we asked how they felt Nemo said, "I feel like I have
butterflies in my stomach." We explained that the good feelings come
from the Spirit and Marlin asked, "What can we do to feel this spirit
always?" I just about died and I did start crying. There aren't many
questions that can make a missionary more excited or bring more joy to
the heart. It is beautiful to see sincere desire to change and draw
near to God, especially when the lesson before this we were drooped.
God leads the missionaries to the people who are prepared to hear his
word and leads them to those they can help prepare. We are
helping preparing everyone we meet, the investigators who drop us and
the ones who soak up every word we say.
But this does not simply apply to missionaries, all of us, as
members of the house of Israel, are to help in the Gathering to Zion.
God places people on our paths that we can help prepare. People that we
can help and it is our duty to search for those people and do what ever
we can to improve their live. And believe me we do not need to search
very far to find those people, many are simply hidden in plain sight.
When was the last time you talked to your neighbors or took some one a
plate of goodies just because. Everyone we see needs help, some won't
except the help we offer but it is always important to offer, you never
know when you are going to change some one's life.
Here are some pictures from the week.
My district, plus the zone leaders, at the bowling
alley. From left to right Elders Garland, Mikesell, Linford (in the
front), Gonzales, Baker, Lo'amanu, Bowman. Hermanas Me, Hardy (front),
Hansen Redondo and Allen.
I put rag curls in my trainers hair. I cut up my pillow case to make the rags.
2 week old kittens at one of our investigators homes!
We came home Wednesday and had a friend on our porch. He had a band on his leg, but sadly it was not a message for us.
The best way to make pasta sauce, mix in enchilada sauce.
Missionary ingenuity/desperation. A bike basket mad from a ruptured tube and a Cheerios box.
